Bridgerton Season 3, My Favorite Kind Of Love Story.

I can only guess what prompted Zoe Strimple to write such drivel for The Spectator (or for the magazine to publish it), except it was sure to set the internet on fire as we, team Nicola, got out our torches and pitchforks to defend our hero, Penelope Featherington aka Lady Whistledown.

Nicola Coughlin, who plays Penelope, is apparently, “not hot” according to Strimple. I’d be curious what the definition of “hot” is supposed to be if it’s not Nicola. Hot is hot, and also subjective. There are plenty of beautiful people I do not find hot, but Nicola is not one of them. I also don’t badmouth them for engagement on the internet based on their appearance.

Strimple also felt she should remark that it was NOT plausible for Colin (Luke Newton) to fall for Penelope because Penelope is, OMFG, fat.

I think it was an episode of Downton Abbey (another British period soap opera), where the Dowager Countess says to Matthew Crawley “Marriage is a long business for people like us. There is no getting out of it. You could spend forty or fifty years with the woman you decide to marry.” Translation — marry the person you want to spend those years with, not someone you feel obligated to marry.
